Description: 

This workshop is designed for clinicians seeking to enhance their cultural competency in the realm of clinical supervision. Over the course of 6 hours, participants will engage in interactive discussions, case studies, and practical exercises aimed at developing a deeper understanding of cultural diversity and its impact on clinical supervision. The workshop will offer insights into effective communication, understanding diverse backgrounds, and implementing strategies to foster an inclusive and respectful environment in clinical settings. This training is ideal for clinical supervisors, mental health professionals, and anyone involved in the mentoring or supervision of clinicians in a diverse environment.

Learning objectives: 

Understand Cultural Diversity: Gain a comprehensive understanding of cultural diversity,

including ethnicity, race, gender, sexuality, and disability, and its implications in clinical settings.

Effective Communication Strategies: Learn strategies for effective communication that

respect and acknowledge cultural differences, enhancing the supervisory relationship.

Cultural Sensitivity in Supervision: Develop skills to conduct culturally sensitive and

appropriate supervision, fostering an environment of inclusivity and respect.

Addressing Cultural Bias: Identify and address personal biases and stereotypes, and

understand their impact on clinical supervision and decision-making.

Implementing Best Practices: Understand and implement best practices for integrating

cultural competency into clinical supervision, including policy development, education, and advocacy.

As a licensed professional counselor and school psychologist, Dr. Corey Milsap provides consultation and training to parents, teachers, and administrators.


Dr. Milsap has assisted both local education agencies and state education agencies in restructuring schools in positive ways when the educational movement called for greater accountability at every level.
