Description:

This 6-hour continuing education course is designed for addiction counselors seeking to enhance their knowledge and skills in incorporating Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) into drug court settings. MAT is an evidence-based approach to treating substance use disorders that combines FDA-approved medications with counseling and behavioral therapies. Throughout the course, participants will learn about the benefits and challenges of integrating MAT into drug court programs, including ethical considerations and best practices for screening, assessment, treatment planning, and ongoing monitoring and support. The course will also cover strategies for collaborating with other professionals, including judges, attorneys, and healthcare providers, to support clients in MAT.

Learning objectives:

1.  Understand the importance of screening and assessment in identifying clients who may benefit from MAT in drug court settings.

2. Learn how to develop individualized treatment plans that incorporate MAT, taking into account clients' unique needs and goals.

3.Explore best practices for monitoring clients in MAT and providing ongoing support services to enhance treatment outcomes.
