Description:

Supervision is often a complex role, and many clinical supervisors often find their exact duties a bit confusing. This confusion is often created by the particular type of setting the counselor works in. However, one major role that must not get confused is the supervisor's responsibility to maintain and nurture an ethical an environment

Education Objectives: At the end of the training, participants will:

  1. Increase understanding of ethical principles for supervision
  2. Identify and learn how to reduce liabilities for clinical supervisors
  3. Understand how to conduct an Ethical Audit
  4. Know how to evaluate and develop ethical beliefs and supervisory practices supportive of the supervisor’s role


Presenter: Dr. Patricia Brown, PhD, CAC II, MAC, CCS   

 

Dr. Brown is the founder and CEO of Applied Training & Consultant, Group, LLC in Decatur, Georgia. She received her Doctorate of Business Administration from Jones International University. She holds both state and national level certifications as an addiction counselor as well as certification as a clinical supervisor. Dr. Brown was a pioneer in the fight against HIV/AIDS. In 1986 she co-founded Our Common Welfare, one of the country's first specialized substance abuse treatment centers for individuals infected with HIV. In 2015, she retired as Executive Director of Here’s to Life, Inc. a non-profit organization she founded because she wanted to provide specialized substance abuse treatment and counseling services to help gay men break their cycle of addiction and learn to make healthy behavior choices. Dr. Brown has over 30 years of experience developing and delivering enhanced learning experiences to a variety of audiences. Some of the organizations she has had the pleasure of presenting to are: Recovery Consultants of Atlanta, Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), SAMHSA, Emory University, Brenau University, and the African American Outreach Initiative. In addition to training, Dr. Brown offers guidance in business development, program monitoring and evaluation. She believes that continuous learning is the key to personal and spiritual growth.

Georgia Addiction Counselors Association has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7302.  Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Georgia Addiction Counselors Association is solely responsible for all aspects of the program.
